The surroundings
Our gite is freestanding and is situated at the south end of the old farmhouse. Along side it is a small road with occasionally passing cars and tractors from the surrounding farmers. Chassagnas is a so-called "lieu dit", a hamlet at 3 km. distance of the village La Croisille sur Briance. There you will find a small supermarket, a bakery, bar / tabac and a pharmacy. At a 20-minute drive away you will find Chateauneuf la Forêt . A larger place with a big supermarket, the Super U.
If you descend the road to Chateuneuf you will see all the big lake below. A beautiful place, where summers can be swum. There is a sandy beach with a summer guard for the children. Do you like water (sports)? In the area there are lakes at various places, suitable for recreation. There is also a fishinglake near la Croisille. For the real water sports enthusiast, one of the largest reservoirs in France can be reached within an hour: the Lac de Vassiviere. If the weather does not allow for an outdoor swim, then the large Aquapolis swimming relax complex on the motorway to Limoges is a must. If you like to play gulf, you will find a course just south of Limoges. The town, with its historic center, is 45 minutes drive from Chassagnas.
Culinairy you also have nothing short of. Visit one of the many markets in the area and buy the most delicious local produce. La Croisille there every 18th of the month alone, but at other times you can go to neighboring villages. A day trip to one of the historic towns or cities (eg Uzerche, Brive) it is wonderful to come home to Au Vieux Verger where you can enjoy the last sun with a glass of wine.
